Keystone is our national leadership development program that provides youth with the knowledge and skills to make positive choices in their lives and make a difference in their Clubs and communities. Throughout the course of the year, Keystone participants complete at least one activity in each of the five core areas: Leadership, Teamwork, Healthy Choices, Service to Club and Community, and Learning for Life.
For youth aged 14 – 18
Lead UP provides youth with opportunities to engage in service initiatives that will address community needs, encouraging them to develop life and work skills, self-confidence, and self-efficacy, while discovering new opportunities. Currently piloting at 5 Clubs, the program engages under-represented youth in meaningful service and promotes youth civic engagement.
For youth aged 13 – 18
Torch Club helps kids develop leadership skills and self-esteem in a respectful, diversified environment. The program also offers the opportunity to give back to others and gain a sense of responsibility that comes when young people make their own decisions. A small group experience monitored by an adult mentor, Torch Club serves as a launch pad for pre-teens before joining the Keystone program.
For children and youth aged 10 – 13
By addressing the complex issues young people face, Take It EASY (Empowerment and Self-Esteem for Youth) fosters self-esteem and confidence in teens and pre-teens so they can make better decisions. Topics include self-esteem, gender and body image, sexuality,
and violence.
For children and youth aged 10 – 15
BGC Canada acknowledges that our work spans many Territories and Treaty areas and we are grateful for the traditional Knowledge Keepers and Elders who are with us today, those who have gone before us and the youth that continuously inspire us in the work that we do. BGC Canada’s mission statement is to provide safe, supportive places where children and youth can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships, and develop confidence and skills for life. We recognize that these values are impossible to attain without the ongoing guidance and partnership with Indigenous peoples.
